Nissan GT-R Nismo Edition Rumored to Hit 60MPH / 96KPH in Two Seconds!

Manufacturers like a nice punch line to promote new cars, or a new version of an older one, especially when it brings significant improvements over its predecessor. They want us to know about it so that they can sell it to us. Now, frankly, there is no better way to promote a high-performance model nowadays, than to say it can hit sixty miles per hour (96km/h) in just two seconds – that’s mad racing car territory right there! While not having been officially confirmed, AutoExpress says it has information that’s how long the Nismo GT-R will take to reach the benchmark speed, making it faster than pretty much any road car on the planet, in stock form. In order to achieve this almost incredible performance, they will reportedly give the Nismo GT-R more oomph and remove some of the bulk, and have asked UK-based Williams Advanced Engineering (the team behind the Juke Nismo) to help out with it. They quote an engineer from the Williams company, who says: “You’d be surprised at how much room for improvement there is – even with a car like the GT-R. Where you expect it’s all been tuned to the maximum, it’s actually easy to make big gains”. We agree and have seen it happen, though, in these cases, the tuning compromised either the road usability of the car, or the ease with which the performance is accessed (some are too potent for their own good, overpowering the chassis and turning into a mess). Not only that, but it will also be distinguishable from the regular GT-R by its unique range of styling tweaks, louder exhaust bark and typical Nismo-style red detailing. Expected to make its debut early next year, the GT-R by Nismo is said to cost over £100,000 (€114,800/$152,000) in the UK. By Andrei Nedelea *Note: Regular Nissan GT-R pictured below
