No Joke: Ford Celebrates Bacon Day with Pork-Wrapped Fiesta that will Make "Tennessee Hillbillies" Happy

At first, we thought it was a joke and checked our calendar, but as it turns out, Ford is dead serious about celebrating International Bacon Day on August 31, which happens to be held on the same day that the United States celebrates Labor Day.

“Ford is announcing the availability of custom bacon graphics that pork purists can have installed on their new Fiesta,” said the Detroit automaker in a statement, with bacon specialist, Allan Benton, CEO of Benton’s Country Hams, also chipping in.

“In the 40 years I’ve been in this business, I’ve never seen so much interest in bacon,” said Allan Benton, CEO of Benton’s Country Hams. “It’s being used in bourbon, chocolate, ground beef, caramel corn and whatever else you can think of. This car just makes so much sense.”

Benton, who Ford tells us is also known as the “King of Bacon among venerable food writers and chefs”, says he approves of the bacon-wrap theme for the Fiesta and believes it will be a hit.

“You can only imagine that a hillbilly from Tennessee is pretty happy to hear about a Ford wrapped in bacon,” said Benton. “I expect there will be some real excitement among the young city crowd.”

And just so you don’t think Ford isn’t being serious about all this, the carmaker coaxes buyers to check out and order the bacon wraps for the Fiesta along with other 3M Original Wraps at www.fordcustomgraphics.com.
