The truth is you need to hear both sides of a story or at least have all the facts in your hands before you judge and draw a sound conclusion on any story or incident. On the face of it, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer featured in this video from YouTube user CENTETNB1 who posted it back in April, needs to at least learn some manners.

The clip starts with the man in the driver’s seat saying “watch this” to his female passenger as his turns on the recorder (likely a mobile phone) upon seeing that the cop was coming back.

“Where are you guys going from here?” asks the female officer. “Um, what was the problem, why did you pull me over?” replies the man.

“Why did I pull you over? Because we have a lot of problems with (inaudible) rental cars here and I see you guys all split when I come into the lot and the way you guys were parked so I just want to make sure that this is legitimate…”

The man then asks if the paper he was handed was a fine, to which the cop responds no, and that he is free to go, but at that point, she asks him again, “Where are you guys heading?”. “Um, am I being detained or free to go,” the man replies. The officer apparently didn’t like the question and she explodes.

“No, I’m asking you a question but you can be pulled out of the car and I can search it if you really want,” the officer is heard saying. “Um, how’s that?,” the man asks.

“Anyway I want. Doesn’t mean I can use whatever I find, but I can do it, so do you want to do that? Do you want to play that game little hard ass or do you want to go back (inaudible) ? Don’t talk shit alright? You guys are all over there, a bunch of (inaudible) gangsters, hanging out and…Get the f…k out of here”.

Perhaps the couple was part of a group misbehaving as the officer claims, maybe they weren’t. Regardless of what did or didn’t happen, and whether the man was trying to provoke her with his answers, this officer turned into what many would call a bully abusing her powers. Or at least that’s how it looks from this side of the video. As always, feel free to voice your thoughts below.
