Chevrolet Goes SEMA with Silverado Z71 Volunteer Firefighter and Black Ops Concepts

Let the 2013 SEMA Show concept games begin – for GM, at least, which has just yanked the proverbial covers off two 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck studies that it has prepared for the upcoming Las Vegas event in early November. The most impressive, and simultaneously, sinister looking of the two projects is the Silverado Black Ops built around the Silverado Crew Cab 4×4 and upgraded with a ton of kit ranging from a custom-fabricated lower body armor to a lockable, bed-mounted Truck Vault storage unit that holds a solar power pack, a pair of gas masks, gloves, military First Aid Kit, folding shovel and rope. It’s powered by GM’s EcoTec3 5.3-liter V8 engine with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, and also sports bolt-on fender flares, four-inch tubular assist steps, a winch, plenty of LEDs, and Z71 18-inch wheels, plus a customized interior. Chevy’s other Silverado concept was made with input from the National Volunteer Fire Council and it shows the brand’s vision of what a firefighter truck should be like. It’s based around the Silverado Double Cab equipped with the Z71 Off Road suspension, and is outfitted with a number of essential firefighter tools and features such as emergency roof light bar with additional LEDs. It rides on 22-inch wheels with a custom finish, and sports revised front and rear suspensions and wider wheels for heavy-duty use. Like the Black Ops study, it too gets the 355hp 5.3L V8.

This has just arisen to be the most attractive truck in my view… the chrome was what had been throwing me off, but now ith body colored trim for the grill and headlights, and the lack of the lower-spoiler, this truck truly looks amazing.
