Nissan Confirms World Premiere of New SUV at Frankfurt, Likely to be 2014 X-Trail

Today, Nissan confirmed our suspicions that an earlier announcement regarding the unveiling of the all-new 2014 Rogue for the North American market on September 10, the first press day of the Frankfurt Motor Show, was not coincidental and that a global version of the same crossover with a different name would make its world premiere in Germany. Nissan’s short statement reads, “World premiere of new production model” and “surprise unveil will be one of the stars of the 2013 International Auto Show in Frankfurt“, with the company also releasing the same teaser picture as it did for the 2014 Rogue. We believe the global version of the Rogue will be the successor to the similarly sized X-Trail that will also replace the seven-seater Qashqai+2 in Nissan’s lineup (the new 2014 Qashqai, to be revealed this coming November, will be offered only as a five-seater model). The new Rogue and the X-Trail are the production versions of last year’s HiCross Concept and will ride on Nissan’s new modular “CMF” chassis, offering both front- and all-wheel drive variants, along with a dedicated selection of engines for each region – Europe, for example, will get a new generation four-cylinder turbo diesel. Joining the new crossover at Nissan’s Frankfurt motor show stand will be the Friend-Me concept making its European premiere and a new personalization programs for the Note and Micra.
