As anticipated but now officially confirmed, Porsche will hold the world premiere of the final series-production version of its all-new halo supercar, the 918 Spyder, at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The 918 Spyder is more or less a known quantity as it has been previewed by a pair of concepts, teased and also caught on the road during testing more times than we can remember over the past year.

Porsche’s first ever plug-in hybrid super sports car comes with a mid-mounted 4.6-liter V8 engine producing 608PS (600hp) linked to a pair of electric motors rated for 115 kW (156PS / 154hp) and 95 kW (129PS / 127hp).

The system delivers a combined output of 887PS or 875hp allowing the 918 Spyder to accelerate to 100km/h (62mph) in just 2.8 seconds, while returning a fuel economy of up to 78.4mpg US / 94.1 mpg US / 3.0 liters per 100km with the use of the battery that provides a pure-electric driving range of over 30 km (18.6 miles).

Also making their world premiere in Frankfurt will be the new 911 Turbo and Turbo S, and the ’50 years 911′ special edition.
