It’s no secret that Cadillac has been working on a coupe version of the well-received ATS compact luxury sedan, and now we have proof that a high-performance version with the brand’s “V” badge will also be on offer, competing directly against the upcoming BMW M4, Audi RS5 and Mercedes C63 AMG coupes.

The protruding front chin and rear boot spoilers outlined by the black camouflage along with the quad exhaust pipe arrangement and the large brake discs on all four corners leave no question about the place of this prototype in the ATS Coupe range.

Some additional details worth mentioning include what looks to be a vented hood and possibly wider fenders, though; we will have to see the car with less camouflage to be sure about these cues (see our Future Car rendering here).

Overall, it seems like GM followed a simpler / more elegant styling approach with the ATS V Coupe and consequently, the ATS Coupe range in general, compared to the current CTS Coupe that it partially replaces – there will likely be a new CTS Coupe, but it will grow in size accordingly.

As for what is hiding under the hood that may or may not feature a power dome, we hear that a tweaked version of GM’s recently announced 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 will power both the ATS V Sedan and Coupe. In the CTS V-Sport, the same unit produces 420-horsepower.
