2014 Nissan Sentra Boasts Equipment, Chassis and Noise Improvements

Nissan’s seventh-gen Sentra is the kind of sedan you buy when the priorities are a low price, keeping a low profile yet being able to carry five people and their bags, mostly in town, but occasionally out of it, if necessary.

Now having undergone its first update for the 2014 model-year, the Sentra’s price and equipment list have been changed and added to respectively.

According to the latest manufacturer information, the model-year refresh keeps the same starting price of $15,990 with several small updates operated with the aim of maintaining the growing sales figure, which was 16.6 percent higher through October of this year than it was in 2012.

Frank Diaz, divisional vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing, Service & Parts, Nissan North America explained: “Though totally revised just last year with a ‘class above’ look and feel inside and out, at Nissan we continuously strive to make our great vehicles even better,” concluding that “With Sentra, we looked at every aspect of the vehicle – chassis, handling, quietness, fabrics and other critical customer touchpoints – and dialed things up to a higher level of refinement.”

At the top of the improvements list lies the reduction in engine noise intruding into the passenger compartment, improved steering feel via quicker ratio and revised electric system and a reduction in body roll coupled with improved ride comfort.

The Xtronic CVT gearbox has also been reworked for improved acceleration – there’s a ‘fake conventional automatic’ mode too, if you don’t mind being lied to by your own gearbox.

The infotainment system has been breathed over as well and thus it gets new capabilities including NissanConnect and iPhone and Android smartphone integration.
