Not all those who purchase Porsche sports cars are true enthusiast drivers intimately familiar with the technical and engineering solutions working in the background – I bet there’s someone out there who may think the engine in a 911 or Boxster is in the front, right up until they actually come to see it and the sales rep shows them the truth…

However, it is those very solutions that also bestow it with atypical driving characteristics, which are brought out especially in the winter, when roads are covered with non-grippy snow.

Porsche offers to take some of your money in exchange for a winter driving course that they hold in Rovaniemi, in Finland, on top of a frozen lake. The goal is to teach interested owners the intricacies of rear-engined and rear-wheel drive control, even if the erratic behavior that previous 911 exhibited has been quelled dramatically in newer versions and the 991 in particular.

If you are an interested Porsche owner, then the video posted below will provide you with the basic information to set you on your way to learning to snow drift in Santa-land. Or, if you’re like me, you just like to see them Porsches going really sideways in the hands of amateurs.
