Comparing a front-wheel drive sports car with a rear-wheel drive machine is a little odd, especially when the two cars aren’t close in terms of power either.

Nevertheless, UK magazine AutoExpress decided to go for it, pitting the 266hp, front-wheel drive Peugeot RCZ R against the 350hp, rear-wheel drive Nissan 370Z Nismo.

The two sports cars are very different in terms of engines too: while the French coupe is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mill, the Japanese coupe is motivated by a 3.7-liter naturally-aspirated V6 unit.

On paper, the duel between the two cars seems disproportionate, but when laps were timed, the results were…let’s just say surprising in a way.
