In my eyes, Peugeot’s new 108 is a more cohesive design package than its VW and Opel rivals could ever hope to be, and it bodes really well to being made wider, given spoiler and bigger wheels plus an extra dollop of power.

It builds upon the bases of a fun-to-drive car, the current 107, a 68 hp matchbox car that always brings a smile on your face, and this is really odd given the price and class it resides in.

That’s why the car speculatively rendered here, the 108 GTi, is definitely a hot hatch enthusiast’s cup of tea, even if it’s been neither confirmed, nor denied – we don’t even know what the interior looks like and already photo manipulator X-Tomi has made one for us and it looks good – really good to my eyes.

There’s nothing not to like about a small car with has been made wider and been given the wheels of a much bigger one to make it look mean.

Power would/will most likely come from some kind of three-pot turbo that will make in excess of 100 hp – it will be more than enough for a car that won’t weigh that much more than 900 kg or 1,990 lbs.
