Nissan’s Titan has been on sale in its current form from late 2003, gaining minor cosmetic, mechanical and technological improvements over its lifecycle, but nothing really major. Now it’s approaching the end of it, and we learn that the Japanese manufacturer is already looking at next year’s edition of the Detroit motor show as the venue to unveil the completely redesigned replacement model.

Edmunds quotes Nissan spokesman Dan Bedore and Fred Diaz, with the latter stating that, “the new Titan will get us into 93 percent of the market segment,” while the former mentioned that their problem with the current Titan is that it lacks a regular cab option, and this means they “are missing a big chunk of the business,” as the range currently stands.

Another limiting factor that will be addressed with the new Titan is the lack of a V6 engine in the range – it can only be had with a 5.6-liter V8 right now. They should probably seriously consider a V6 diesel variant too, along with the larger V8 that’s already been suggested.
