French brands have a long tradition of building fast, fun and exciting small hot hatches at relatively affordable prices – off the top of my head, I remember having a blast driving the Renault Clio Williams and 106 Rallye, but there are many more.

With the announcement of Peugeot replacing its 107 city car with the new 108 that has been co-developed with sister brand Citroen and partner Toyota, and Renault introducing the new Twingo that is related to the next Smart ForFour, the design community has gone bonkers on creating fast versions of the two cars.

We’ve seen examples of both separately before, but Carscoops readers Damian Sebastien and Filip Josifoski (from CarClub) sent us their Photoshop versions of the Twingo RS and 108 GTi respectively, which we share with you today.

Take a closer look at them in the gallery below, and tell us if you think the French should make plans to create these cars in real life.

Thanks to Damian and Filip for their design submissions!
