Volvo and its racing and tuning partner from 1996 onward, Polestar, have just revealed the 2014 season-ready S60 racecar for the V8 Supercars series. Sporting a noticeable Valvoline livery, wraps came off the vehicles in Sydney, at a shore side location overlooking the famous Opera House. The car unveiled complies with all of the new technical requirements for admission into the championship.

Power comes from a five-liter sixty-degree V8 engine with around 650hp at 7,500rpm, with no turbocharging and running on E85. The transmission is a Control Albins ST6 6 speed sequential Transaxle with integrated spool differential. It weighs 1,410 kg including driver; that’s 3,108 lbs.

Acceleration off the mark to 100 km/h or 62 mph is dealt with in 3.2 seconds and top speed is estimated to be in excess of 300 km/h or 186 mph.

The first race of the calendar will take place in Adelaide, on March 2, but you’ll be able to see the car in action beforehand at the Sydney Motorsport Park test day planned for February 15.
