We’d all like to have a Viper, an SLS AMG or an LFA parked in front of our house, but the harsh reality is that these purpose built sports cars are of the unattainable variety for the wide masses, which is exactly why automakers developed performance versions of their mainstream cars like the VW Golf GTI and Mercedes CLA 45 AMG.

Chrysler turned a fresh page with the brand new 200, a car that targets the hugely popular (and equally competitive) mid-size sedan segment in North America, but the only sports offering in the range is a selection of Mopar styling and light performance parts.

This digitally manipulated photo of a 200 GT made by X-Tomi builds on the Mopar version featured in recent auto shows adding a few more aggressive bits like the blacked out wheels, CF mirror and roof, rear wing and redesigned front bumper, and at the same time, makes us wonder if Chrysler should ponder a true sports version, not so much with the GT moniker as with an SRT badge.

Do you think Chrysler should pursue the development of a 200 SRT and if so, what powertrain should it use?
