There’s just something so special about an old car with a story, which for many drivers, beats the new car smell any day… This Citroen AX, for instance, while it’s not for everybody, will make a handful of enthusiasts nod in their desk chair, as they’re reading this and looking over the sales ad that details it.

At first, you’d think you’re staring at a pile of junk fit for the scrapheap, but in actual fact, the car is mechanically sound, and in good condition, plus it’s got one important trick up its sleeve: it runs a 1.6-liter petrol engine out of a crashed Peugeot 106 GTi, as well as that car’s front suspension.

Stopping power is ensured by 306 GTi6 brakes up front, but the standard rear drums are retained. It comes with an exhaust system made out of intermixed bits of old PSA piping, and the car tips the scales at 800 kg fully fueled up (or 1,763 lbs).

There’s a lot to be said about the car, but it’s best left to its owner to describe; he lovingly calls it “Project S***box and you can read all about it on Pistonheads.
