As the latest evolution of the sports car manufacturer’s design language, the Lamborghini Huracán has come under scrutiny for the last three months, with some voices claiming that the design is not dramatic enough for a Lamborghini.

However, Lamborghini’s head of design Filippo Perini begs to differ, claiming the Huracán combines an extreme design with usability.

Lamborghini places an emphasis on daily usability, an attribute which was certainly missing from its cars prior to VW’s acquisition of the company. That’s because it has big plans with the Huracán, targeting bigger sales than the Gallardo’s 14,022 lifetime record.

Judging from the 1,000 orders received so far, it looks like the Huracán started on the right foot – or is it wheel? Anyway, Perini says every design feature of the Huracán is driven by functionality.
