The most important part of the BMW 3-Series GT package is the ridiculous amount of rear legroom, which is just as ample, or more than what you find in a 5-Series sedan. Its interior may look exactly the same as that of a normal 3-Series, but it is noticeably airier, more open-feeling, and therefore more appealing for passengers to ride in.

In the video below, AutoExpress’ Mat Watson goes over his opinionns of a 328i GT, after having driven it every day for the last six months. He explains that the car can very easily grow on the driver, even if it’s slightly softer and taller than the sedan variant, and this improved suppleness means it’s addressed at a different audience.

It seems there are few negatives to speak of, but Mat does point out that it’s very hard to get close to the claimed economy figures, also warning against the lightly colored beige leather and carpet combo which gets very dirty, very quickly – the driver’s seat will slowly turn whatever color your favorite jeans are.

If you want a posh means of family transport that’s not a laughter-inducing MPV, the 3-Series GT seems like a safe long-term bet.
