Recent spy shots of prototypes of the new Smart ForFour that surfaced online are suggesting that Daimler’s small car unit will follow, if not an identical, a similar path to Toyota and PSA Peugeot-Citroen, which created three models using the same body with different styling for the front and to a lesser extent, rear ends of their vehicles.
If this holds true, then the new generation of the Smart ForFour may very well look like this render made by Carscoop’s reader Damian Sebastian, who grafted the face and wheels of last year’s Smart FourJoy Concept to the new Renault Twingo.
Smart and Renault co-developed the two city cars that will share their underpinnings and powertrain lineups.
We know from Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche that the new ForFour will measure 3,500mm (137.8 inches) in length and that Smart will reveal the car online in July, before its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October, with European sales to start sometime in the fourth quarter of the year.
