Following the release of exterior photos last month, Renault has finally uncovered the Twingo’s interior and provided details about the car’s engines at the Geneva Motor Show.

Thanks to its rear-engine setup, Renault says the Twingo offers a bigger cabin than what would be anticipated of a car with an overall length of just 3.59 meters (141.3 inches), a width of 1.64 m (64.5 in) and a height of 1.55 m (61 in).

Despite being 100mm (3.93 in) shorter than its predecessor, the distance from the dashboard to the tailgate is 220mm (8.6 in) longer, as the car features a shorter bonnet. The 2.490mm (98 in) wheelbase is also 130mm (5.1 in) longer, helping provide more room for passengers.

The new Twingo has a 219-liter (7.7 cu-ft) boot and a 50/50-split rear bench that folds to reveal a flat boot floor of 1.35 meters in length. Furthermore, the front passenger seat also folds forwards, enabling the Twingo to carry loads of up to 2.20 meters in length. The Twingo is also said to be more agile, with a turning circle of 8.65 meters (340.5 inches).

Styling-wise, the cabin has a cheerful spirit, playing with the contrast between black and white. The dashboard features uncluttered forms and all the instruments are housed in a console surrounded by a broad white trim that comes with either a “golf ball” or smooth painted finish. The instruments include a large speedometer located in the driver’s line of sight, plus a centrally-positioned display with a surround that matches that of the instruments and available in blue, white, black or red.

The Twingo offers three different themes for the seat fabric and armrests: blue, grey or red, with flecks of color. Also available is a sportier trim with a black ambience combined with red highlights and mixed fabric upholstery.

The city car is available with two connectivity solutions: R & GO for use with a smartphone, or the latest generation R-Link.

The new Twingo inaugurates an all-new engine, the SCe 70, which is a naturally-aspirated 1.0-liter petrol 3-cylinder derivative of the TCe range. Producing 70PS (69hp) and 91 Nm (67 lb-ft) of torque, the engine will be available with or without Stop&Start, depending on the market.

For those who want more power, Renault also offers the TCe 90, a 0.9-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 90PS (89hp) and 135 Nm (100 lb-ft) of torque. Renault says this engine has been specifically redesigned for the new Twingo. The unit is fitted as standard with Stop&Start and complies with the Euro6 emission standard.
