One of the first vehicles to come out of the joint CitroenDongfeng effort will be a small crossover. The model is previewed by a close-to-production concept that was revealed in the metal at the Beijing auto show.

Dubbed the C-XR, Citroen says it’s “a contemporary take on the SUV, boasting strong design, outstanding comfort and technological choices focused on efficiency,” featuring quite the bold design, with liberal use of LEDs and rakish shapes/angles.

Measuring 4.26 m (~14 ft) in length, 1.79 m (5.9 ft) in width and rising 1.56 m (5.1 ft) off the ground, it’s only slightly bigger than a Nissan Juke, an obvious main rival of this vehicle’s production version.

For the concept, Citroen opted for their THP160 1.6-liter turbo engine with start-stop and a modern automatic gearbox that, as usual, carries the promise of “enjoyable performance with reduced fuel consumption.”
