Just a few days after Citroen’s press department distributed a single teaser photo of what we firmly believe to be the production version of last year’s DS Wild Rubis SUV study, an unhindered image of the car surfaced online in China.

The front end of the production car looks almost identical to that of the Wild Rubis as well as…to Citroen’s China only DS brand’s new 5LS near-premium sedan.

We don’t know if the rumor going around in China about the DS SUV being called X7 is true and whether BMW‘s legal department would have any objections to that, but we can tell you that the crossover model shares its underpinnings and engine range with the 5LS.

This means Chinese consumers will have the option of a 1.6-liter turbocharged unit available in two states of tune delivering 158hp (160PS) or 197 hp (200PS), possibly offering both manual and automatic transmissions.

Citroen has said that at this time, there are no plans to offer the SUV in markets outside China.
