This is not the first review of the 2015 Subaru WRX, but it’s the first time the folks from Consumer Reports gets their hands on the car so we figured you might want to hear their opinion.

Jon Linkov tested a WRX equipped with snow rubber, but says these tires hide how the car really drives and handles. More specifically, the softer winter tires hide the ride’s stiff nature. He says the WRX is far stiffer than the regular Impreza, but not exactly harsh.

As a sign of the times, the new Subaru WRX gains a fully electric steering, which means the feedback provided to the driver is not as sharp as before. The interior offers more room than the old version, particularly in the rear seats, but Consumer Reports criticized the infotainment system, calling it the biggest letdown of the car.

For the first time the Subaru WRX gains a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), but the standard six-speed manual is more in tune with the car’s sporty character.
