Set for release sometime this year, Ubisoft’s open world online action driving/racing game The Crew has just gained a new gameplay trailer. In essence, it’s very similar to the first one they released, but this one adds information about additional locations that will be made available, as well as game modes.

One such game mode will be very similar to Grand Theft Auto V’s heists whose concept will be adapted to match the more automotive-oriented nature of the title. The developers have not talked at length about this, but it’s very clear from the trailer that a pack of beefed up cars try to run an armored car off the road.

Be wary when getting your hopes up for this one, because you really can’t tell with these modern games if they’re good or not, until you’ve played them yourself. So far it looks okay, but it isn’t really very original.

It could win back a few points if the gameplay is solid and the social component is well integrated into the experience – these racing/driving games can make online gameplay feel contrived, simply because it’s usually by no means a seamless experience (with loading screens, lobbies and lag).
