Formally, the new 2015 Lexus NX compact luxury SUV will appear in U.S. showrooms in the fall of 2014, but unofficially, Lexus has already sent pre-production samples over to its dealers, as YouTuber Kyle Lindsey of Saabkyle04 fame found out thanks to a tip from Lexus of Greensboro in North Carolina.

If you’ve seen his videos before, you should know what to expect and what not– this is a fairly detailed video walk in and around the Lexus NX, along with a short drive from one of dealers employees behind the wheel.

The model filmed here is the NX300h, meaning it features a 194hp (197PS) 2.5-liter inline-four hybrid powertrain, which we must say, sounds like a…tractor in the video. The other option U.S. buyers will have will be Lexus’ first turbocharged gasoline unit, a 235hp (238PS) 2.0-liter four on the NX200t.

The Lexus NX’s main challengers are the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLK.
