The GTS versions of the Porsche Boxster and Cayman are the most powerful models from the carmaker’s line of entry-level sports cars, but are they the most fun to drive as well?

On paper, everything would lead to such a conclusion. Compared to the Porsche Cayman S and Boxster S models, GTS models get an additional 15hp from the 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, which now delivers 326 hp (330PS) in the Boxster GTS and 335 hp (340PS) in the Cayman GTS. Torque has also increased by 10 Nm (7 lb-ft) in each model.

The Cayman GTS sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds, while the Boxster GTS needs an extra tenth of a second to cover the same sprint. Both models are fitted as standard with the Sport Chrono package and Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, among other features.

Auto Express’ Mat Watson drove both the Cayman GTS and the Boxster GTS and reached some surprising conclusions. Not about their handling capabilities, which are superb, as expected, but related to Porsche’s pricing strategy with these models.
