It was only a matter of time before BMW‘s flashy new M4 Coupe was pitted against the competition after the release of the first standalone drive reviews. Theoretically, any high-performance model in the market with a similar price tag should do, but traditional media usually start with direct opponents before moving on to lesser compatible, but equally, if not more interesting comparisons (i.e. Corvette).

Few cars are closer to the M4 than its German stablemate from Stuttgart, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe, which brings us to Autocar’s video review of the two performance coupes.

We suspect that it may have had something to do with the availability of the press cars at the time of the test, but the British publication compared the 425hp (431PS) turbo’d M4 Coupe with the optional carbon ceramic brakes against the 500hp (507PS) Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe 507 Edition. The latter has an extra 49hp (50PS) and costs roughly £10,000 more than the standard 451hp (457PS) C63 AMG Coupe (£58,500) in the UK.

If you want to learn how the older Mercedes stands up against its newly launched competitor from Munich, then cross the jump and press play on the video that follows.
