Before the generation change scheduled for 2015, Land Rover will introduce what it calls “the most luxurious Freelander yet” when the lightly-upgraded Freelander lineup for the 2015 model year goes on sale in early June in the UK. The Freelander features a new three-grade line-up, headed by the Metropolis edition, which replaces the previous HSE LUX specification.

The Land Rover Freelander Metropolis adds premium Windsor leather, electrically adjustable seats, panoramic sunroof, xenon headlights with LED DRLs, reversing camera and 19-inch diamond-turned alloys, among other features.

The range-topping Freelander also comes fitted with a touchscreen-controlled satellite navigation, an 825W meridian surround sound system, heated steering wheel, luxury carpet mats, premium metallic paint and gloss black interior detailing.

Positioned below the Metropolis trim level are the new SE and SE Tech models that replace the GS and XS designations. Compared to the previous GS grade, the base SE adds a heated windscreen, front fog lights, front and rear center armrests, 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels and the Design Pack combination of colour-matched bumpers and sills. These features are in addition of heated leather seats, climate control, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors and heated, power-folding door mirrors.

Finally, the new SE Tech models add a more powerful, 380W Meridian audio system, touchscreen-controlled navigation, automatic headlights and wipers and 19-inch 10-spoke alloys.

For the 2015 model year, Land Rover also offers the TD4 engine with manual transmission in SE and SE Tech versions and the SD4 unit with automatic gearbox across the complete range.

Set to debut at Royal Windsor Horse Show in the UK, the Freelander SE will be priced from £27,765 (€34,133), while the Freelander Metropolis will start from £35,995 (€44,085).
