The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered almost 2 million vehicles for the first time in the first four months of a year. 1.99 million VW vehicles were registered to customers from January through April 2014, up from 1.91 million in the same period last year (up 4.6 percent). In April alone, VW delivered 513,400 cars, up from 480,900 in April 2013 (up 6.8 percent).

The biggest region for VW brand cars was Asia-Pacific, with 993,400 deliveries, up 16.2 percent over the same period last year. The vast majority of sales, 921,400 vehicles, were delivered in China (including Hong Kong).

In Europe, Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 567,800 vehicles (up 4.1 percent), of which 298,400 were handed over in Western Europe (excluding Germany). Deliveries in Germany reached 184,100 units, while 85,300 vehicles were handed over in the Central and Eastern Europe region. Russia accounted for over 45,800 deliveries (down 7.4 percent).

In South America, deliveries totaled 183,900 vehicles, accounting for a decrease of 21.8 percent. 144,700 cars were handed over in Brazil (down 17.6 percent). In North America, VW delivered 182,700 vehicles, down 6.9 percent over the same period last year. 118,200 vehicles (down 10.4 percent) were handed over to customers in the United States.
