In yet another example of appearances ultimately being deceiving, a seemingly humble man in a meek Nissan Maxima 3.5 V6 went up against a 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo on the drag strip – purportedly in the Mexican city of Chihuahua.

Even in pure stock form, the 996 Turbo with 420PS (414hp) firmly planted on the road thanks to its all-wheel drive system, can hit 62mph (100km/h) in just 4.2 seconds, topping out at 189 mph (304 km/h).

A regular Nissan Maxima 3.5-liter V6 should be no match for the 911 Turbo, but a turbocharged version of the very-tunable VQ engine is a different story altogether, as you can find out for yourself in the video that follows the jump.
