In production in its current (slightly odd) form since 2008, the (eight-seater) Honda Pilot has just received a new Special Edition (SE) trim level the 2015 model year. Nothing really changed to it in the looks department, so if it was its style that attracted you to the Pilot before, it won’t be hard for you to like this new grade.

Positioned between the EX and EX-L trim levels, the SE comes fitted with pewter gray aluminum alloy wheels, special SE badging, a one-touch-open power moonroof with tilt feature, Sirius XM radio and a Honda DVD Rear Entertainment System.

The range kicks off at $29,870 for a basic LX 2WD model. It has the best fuel economy of any Pilot, promising to return 21 mpg combined. At the other end of the range is the Touring 4WD model with navigation, which costs $41,620 and returns 1 mpg less than the fwd model. All models are equipped with remote entry, rearview camera and an integrated Class III trailer hitch as standard.

Power comes from the same 3.5-liter V6 engine that still sends its power to the wheels via a five-speed autobox, like the ones they used to call modern more than a decade ago…
