Apparently, NEVS doesn’t have enough money on its own to keep the restarted Saab production going, and with that thought in mind, the idea of making a 9-3-based EV seems ever more distant. However, it would appear that they may not have to do it alone, as it’s been speculated that India’s Mahindra & Mahindra may be interested in buying a share of its own.

According to the India Times, Ny Teknik, a local Indian tech magazine, said, without stating the source, that currently two companies are interested, one of which is Mahindra.

The company has not made any official statements on the matter yet, but they didn’t deny it outright as is often the case when a rumor is wrong… This may very well prove to be true, as it acquired Korea’s SsangYong in 2011 with the intent of making it into a premium maker of off-road activity vehicles.

We’ll reveal more as it becomes available.
