With 230PS (227hp) from a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine, the Performance Edition is the most powerful stock VW Golf GTI. The smaller, lighter Vauxhall / Opel Corsa VXR Clubsport is also the most potent model of the series, with 203hp from a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine.

While it is less powerful than the Golf GTI Performance, the Corsa VXR Clubsport is 130 kg (286 lbs) lighter, which theoretically, should offset the power disadvantage.

Both cars are have turbocharged engines mated to six-speed manual transmissions and are front-wheel drive, so they’re similar in concept. But which one do you think is faster in a drag race?

We won’t disclose the outcome of this duel organized by EVO, but we will tell you that the winning car had a much bigger advantage than anticipated.
