Subaru’s New Forester STI tS Concept Heats Up Our Imagination

Just like it did with the previous generation Forester, Subaru has unveiled an STI tS concept in Japan to test the waters for a sportier (at least in terms of looks) Forester.

Presented at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan during the last weekend of August’s SuperGT race, the Subaru Forester STI tS study sports a World Rally Blue color with accents in STI’s Cherry Red color.on the griller, rear bumper and badges.

The Forester STI tS Concept looks meaner than the production model thanks to the redesigned front bumper, black-painted grille frame, mirror caps and spoiler, dark tinted windows and lowered suspension.

Subaru says the vehicle is just a concept car and was only displayed to get feedback from customers. The company didn’t say anything about the engine or performance of the Forester-based study. As it is still under development, the Subaru people didn’t show the interior, but a few shots taken reveal an STI-badged leather steering wheel and gear knob with red stitching as well as red accents on the seats and dashboard and carbon fiber trim.

Subaru has not decided yet whether the Forester STI will become a reality, but if it does, let’s hope it will bring mechanical upgrades as well. After all, STI boss Hiroshi Mori said the Forester STI tS study was developed as a fun to drive vehicle and “a joy to own.”

  • That Ross Chap

I’m kind of over Subaru after they showed the awesome WRX concept and then decided to produce something so dull and boring it is one of the few known cures for insomnia

    • Bestswat

It is very rare that a concept is going to be mass produced that soon after it is revealed to the public, so I don’t get why you are all upset for. The VW beetle was unveiled as concept in 1994 and became reality in 1998. Nissan GT-R unveiled in 2005 and became a reality in 2008. Camaro unveiled in 2006 and became a reality in 2009 and so forth.

If anything you should expect good things to come in the future from Subaru, as you said so yourself it was an awesome WRX concept.

    • Fasterlaned

I can see exactly what you’re talking about; the wrx concept had bold colors, bold lines, and was just beautiful, but the production model did not deliver.

    • J to the P

I loved the last gen WRX/STi hatch, they did a great job with it. The new one, not so much… Looks like a Civic body with a frankensteined Evo grill. Come on Subaru, get it together! But seriously, the performance on the new model is solid, someone just ran a sub 10 second quarter mile with one granted it wasn’t very stock. 🙂

  • Gunnerz

Sounds sweet. Make it happen Subaru! Make sure to add proper performance to match the badge 🙂 No CVT!

  • They should keep this one a sleeper. Looks the same but 500 ps internals and sti suspension

    Y U NO HOODSCOOP, SUBARU?!

  • Roan Bester

I still like the previous S-edition (and tS)’s look more. I’m hoping for lotsa more power to compete better with its rivals.
