Apparently, drop-top conversions of premium coupes were quite popular back in the 1980s, which is where this Mercedes-Benz 500SEC comes from.

From the pictures, the car looks to be in pretty decent condition for its age – minus the missing metal top, of course, which has been replaced with a folding cloth roof.

We guess that’s to be expected, not only because most 1980s Mercedes-Benz models were built to last, but also because this 500 SEC has covered a mere 37,579 miles (60,464 km) since new, according to the seller, who points out that it was a European import to California.
