The 2015 Ford Mustang hasn’t actually gone on sale yet, but it’s already going on runs on the drag strip.

Ford Racing did the test this time with three Mustangs and three different powertrains, all with the goal of getting them in the 10, 11 and 12-second timeframes. And yes, they took the Ecoboost turbo four out for a run.

With some modifications, including rear subframe kit, a prototype exhaust and the “Ford Racing Development Engine Calibration,” the Ecoboost Mustang did the quarter mile in 12.56 seconds. Pretty good, considering it’s less than a second behind the 5.0 V8 with similar modifications.

No need to fear, even the four-cylinder Mustang is fast in a straight line now.
