As one of the newest entries in the world of performance models, the 2015 BMW M3 is attracting a lot of attention from enthusiasts who are pitting it against established sports cars.

In one of their recent meetings, the crew at GTBoard had an F80-generation M3 in their disposal and they raced it against an older, 2008 Audi R8 4.2-liter V8 with a manual gearbox and a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG with the Performance Package.

For those of you keeping count, the latest M3 saloon has a 425hp (431PS) 3.0L straight-six, the R8 a 414hp (420PS) 4.2L atmospheric V8, and the pre-facelift E63 AMG, 517hp (525PS) in standard trim and 549hp (557PS) with the Performance Package.
