Renault has proved over time that it can come up with a dashing design and then translate the flamboyance into a production (B-segment supermini) model.

If that’s the case with the Eolab, then we’re curious to see what the result will be. Until then (sometime before 2020), let us enjoy its aggressive lines and swept back profile in the live photos from the Paris motor show.

Despite being an anagram for Ebola, the Eolab is far from repulsive. It betrays its eco-car ideals, but it wears them with pride – this is the kind of hybrid vehicle you’d not mind to be seen in. Power comes from a conventional gasoline-electric hybrid system and even with the extra weight it brings, the concept is still some 400kg / 880 lbs lighter than an equivalent Clio.

If it previews Renault’s future design language and not an actual model, that’s a satisfying thought too, though we thought that’s what the all-new Espace was doing already…
