We don’t know if it’s a present for signing his new contract or a serious boys’ toy he indulged himself in but, apparently, four times Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel has already hit top speed in one of Ferrari’s cars.

Mind you, as his current team, Red Bull Racing, won’t let him test its rival’s F1 car yet, the steed in the video is a 730HP Ferrari F12berlinetta. The video was captured in Abu Dhabi by German journalist and Vettel’s close friend Matthias Malmedie, who was riding shotgun and was shooting the speed on the display in front of the passenger’s seat.

Malmedie uploaded the video on his Facebook account and YouTube and, while there’s no confirmation (or denial, for that matter) on Vettel’s side, watching a Ferrari hitting 350 km/h (219 mph) – well, 349 km/h / 218 mph actually – and witnessing its insane rate of acceleration is not a bad sight at all.

It would be even better if it wasn’t recorded with a camera phone placed vertically at the extremely low quality of 144p…
