10 Sportscars Rendered as Shooting Brakes

In case you’re wondering why Shooting Brakes are in such a high demand (at least in our imagination), it’s because they’ve got a very manly and retro look to them. It just looks cool.

Naturally, some argue otherwise, and won’t even look again at cars such as the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake or its baby brother the CLA Shooting Brake. But those two don’t really do justice to the Shooting Brake image. They’re more of a sleeker station wagon than a true shooting brake car.

If you want to keep it real and kick serious supercar behind, look no further than the Ferrari FF. Which is what X-Tomi did when he put together a collection of 10 modern day Shooting Brakes.

He used a Mustang, a Toyota GT 86, a BMW M6, BMW M4, Nissan GT-R, Audi TT S, Mercedes AMG GT, a Challenger, a Camaro and a Lexus RC F.

Overall, it’s a great effort, showing lot’s of talent in the art of graphic design and we absolutely love the M4 rendering to the point where we actually hope BMW is going to build it, someday.

I wish there are more shooting brake style cars for sale. The Audi, Dodge, Lexus, and Toyota renderings look pretty good. Too bad BMW doesn’t still make a Z4 (nee Z3) coupe (shooting brake). I would take that over a 4 door coupe any day.

No one buy 2-door station wagons, other than funeral agencies, but they prefer them painted in black and with plenty of room for a coffin. Might be one or another exception to the rule, maybe some dracula-wannabe who find pleasure driving a hearse .. http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/bg/Jane+Goldman+s+parking+ticket+-14hAKiuHLEl.jpg

That’s an updated version of Harold’s Jaguar hearse! [You would have had to seen the movie ‘Harold and Maude’ to know what I’m talking about!]

  • i wonder where the term shooting brake came from.

All the German brands translate very well.. the Americans however..

The Camaro looks terrible for the same reason the regular Camaro looks terrible: stupid chop top teeny window area – unlike the original or later versions. The rest are better than the existing cars.
But it’s true that any car with room behind the front seats and no back doors is less useful than a car with back doors.

The Audi TT works brilliantly, but only because the styling of the c-pillar and back hatch itself does not look like something that Audi designers would do lol. It looks more Volvo-ish actually, reminds me of the C30.

The Challenger would make for one badass hellcat. The Mustang has a body that would work with the Shooting brake profile, but it just looks wrong on here. The Lexus looks great, and with the exception of the Mercedes, the Germans all look fantastic.

the lexus looks really good, the rest, not so much.

The Dodge is the only one I really like. It reminds me of a modern Chevy Nomad (okay, wrong brand, but still…).

Some aren’t bad at all (Lexus, TT) and the GT-R now looks like a Skoda. The back window on the M4 is just a little too far back IMHO; there should be a bit of a lip over the tailights.
