It’s no secret that Audi is developing a rival for the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe that will be called the Q8, and it’s also a known fact that it will be mechanically based on the all-new Q7 SUV.

So now that the second-generation Audi Q7 has been revealed, Photoshop manipulator X-Tomi tried to find out what the Q8 would look like using design cues from the new SUV.

While the front end is identical with that of the Q7, the rest of the car looks quite different, due to the sloping roofline and the modified window line. It should look different from the rear as well because of the very inclined rear window.

However, I’m hoping the Audi Q8 will be more than a “hunchback” Q7, and a recent report suggests it will use Audi’s new design language previewed by the Prologue concept. It will also be the first production car designed by the brand’s new styling boss Marc Lichte, who promised the Q8 will be distinguished from the Q7 inside and out. Let’s hope that will be the case when the new model arrives on the market, sometime within the next three years.
