Having owned his fair share of 911s, amongst them the rare 997 GT3 RS 4.0, Chris Harris is, by his own admission, in love with Porsche’s iconic sports car, singing their praise as often as he can.

Still, as a car enthusiast, he is more than willing to get his hands on anything even remotely interesting. Cue the Camaro Z28 with its 505hp 7.0-liter V8, stripped out interior and carbon ceramic brakes making it Chevy’s road-legal sports coupe that can also double as a track car.

Its natural opponent from Stuttgart would have been the latest, 991-based GT3. Harris, though, decided that, since the Camaro came with a manual transmission, it was only right to compare it to a similarly equipped 911.

That’s why he went for a 997 GT3 RS – or at least that was his excuse for bringing out the last hot 911 that comes with a stick and paddles are nowhere to be found.

On paper, the 444hp RS is definitely down on power, though it is quite lighter, too. Comparing one of Porsche’s finest to a souped-up pony car might be considered a bit unfair. Then again, the Z28 is not your average American sports car.

To make matters more interesting, the couple was tested on a very wet track. Does the Chevy stand a chance against the Porsche? You betcha; you can see why by viewing the full video of the twin test that was teased a while back right after the break.
