Despite the name ‘Egoista Motors’, this Italian startup company has nothing in common with Lamborghini’s namesake concept, except the fact that it’s based in the same region as the Italian sports car manufacturer.

Founded by Luca Fazzi, the company wants to convince as many people as possible that there’s room in the market for a street-legal single seater with all-electric or hybrid propulsion.

The company has already built a prototype called EM01 Stradale, which it hopes will attract enough looks and finances in order to start mass production. Egoista Motors’ goals for the EM01 Stradale are ambitious: a top speed of more than 300 km/h (186 mph), a 0-100 km/h sprint of 3 seconds and a starting price of €7,999 or $9,999 for the EV version with a build-it-yourself kit.

There would be two versions, an electric one with a driving range of up to 300 km (186 miles) and a hybrid one with up to 450 km (280 miles) of range achieved thanks to a range extender. Unfortunately, there are no details about the electric motor or the type of the range extender engine.

Egoista Motors’ first objective is to raise $100,000 to fulfill the vehicle homologation process, which would allow the car to be used legally on any public road. For this, Egoista Motors has started a fund raising campaign on Indiegogo on December 9, where you can learn more about the project. So far it has only received a little over $4,000 in donations. Finding investors will definitely not be easy, so we wish them good luck with that.
