I’m not a big fan of going backwards in my car and I struggle to remember the last time I heard someone say how good it feels to reverse.

But we live in a very big and diverse world, so it should come as no surprise that there’s a man in India who only drives his car in reverse. It all started when his Fiat got stuck in reverse in a remote area, so he had to drive it backwards to the nearest repair shop. And then it hit him: what if he would drive only in reverse from that point onwards?

Some may have thought he was joking, but Harpeet Devi proceeded to modify his old Fiat to allow him to drive backwards. He achieved that by tinkering with the gearbox so that it has four gears for reverse and only one for going forwards. Since 2003, he is regularly seen on the roads of Bhatinda in the state of Punjab driving in reverse at speeds of 50 mph (80 km/h).

Of course, doing this for a long time can have some unpleasant repercussions, as you’ll find out from the following video courtesy of Barcroft.
