Of the three hybrid hypercars, only the Porsche 918 Spyder has set an official lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a record 6:57.

McLaren has timed the P1 too around the Green Hell, but it didn’t release it, saying that the car did it in less than 7 minutes.

As for Ferrari, the Italians didn’t say anything about how quick the LaFerrari can lap the Nürburgring. But Porsche’s record is far from being safe, as Koenigsegg has announced plans to go faster than the 918 Spyder next year with both the Agera R and the One:1 hypercars.

“When we look at the sector times, we’re already on course for a record. I hate the need to do it, but this is one of the ways you prove yourself in this part of the market,” company founder Christian von Koenigsegg told Car&Driver.

Koenigsegg already knows what its cars are capable of at the Nürburgring, as the company has already done extensive testing there. The crash involving an Agera R test mule that happened in September proves the Swedes are serious about this. The company plans to return in 2015 to set a record, first in the 1,124hp Agera R and then in their most powerful car, the 1,341hp One:1.

The latter is expected to shave “a very significant chunk” off the Porsche’s time. If you’re wondering how fast the One:1 can be in ideal conditions around the Nürburgring, Koenigsegg says a time “in the 6:30s” is a realistic target.
