Toyota has begun the teasing operation for its redesigned 2016 Tacoma pickup truck, which will debut at the Detroit Auto Show early next year.

The photo released by the automaker only shows a fragment of the vehicle’s rear end, allowing us to notice the redesigned taillights and bumper that have a more pronounced off-road look. The 4×4 badge means the 2016 Tacoma will continue to be offered with all-wheel drive, but other than that, details are scarce.

Toyota says the new Tacoma will “once again set the benchmark for midsize pickup performance,” thanks to “unwavering capability, an unbreakable attitude and new, rugged tech.” The automaker insists the Tacoma’s off-road capabilities will be “more formidable than ever,” but doesn’t offer details.

Along with the redesigned exterior, the 2016 Tacoma is expected to feature a more modern interior than the current model, as well as new equipment including a six-speed automatic transmission and other powertrain upgrades to improve fuel economy.
