It seems that in Germany, people need something to do while they wait for the green light to cross the road. Well, a local company has come up with an idea where those waiting can challenge one another to a game of Pong – it requires at least two people, one on either side.
The game itself is not Pong, but rather Pong-like, but it’s just as good as you remember it from the 70s.
Its role is to deter people from jaywalking. The idea is that there would no longer be a button to press that changes the lights to green, but a touchscreen that would have you play the game until it’s safe to cross.
It’s a neat idea that would do more than just keep people from crossing inappropriately – it would mean people who’ve never met before would challenge each to a game, an idea which is cool in itself in this era when we confuse social media with actual human interaction…
