As MINI continues to peel off the camouflage from its next Clubman, we took advantage of these new spy shots to create a render of the production model.

The reinvented second-gen Clubman will be slightly toned down over the concept displayed at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show gaining conventional door handles, smaller wheels and less dramatically styled front grille and bumper trims.

However, it retains everything else, including the six-door layout with a pair of barn-style boot panels at the back, making the new model a more family-orientated estate proposal than the current Clubman with the unusual 2+1 side-door arrangement.

Furthermore, it will be the biggest MINI model to date measuring a little over 4.2 meters (+165 inches) in length, thus surpassing the Countryman that’s 4,110mm or 161.8 in long in Cooper S form. At 1,844mm (72.6 in) wide, the concept was also 55mm or 2.2 inches wider than MINI’s crossover improving not only its road presence, but more importantly, passenger space as well.

Built on a stretched version of the BMW Group’s UKL1 platform architecture, the new Clubman will offer a similar engine lineup to the three- and five door hatchbacks, so expect 1.5-liter three-cylinder and 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline and diesel units combined with either six-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. A John Cooper Works version is a given and it will feature a 228hp (230PS) 2.0-liter turbo unit.
