While the world was busy looking towards Detroit, like the huge collective eye of ‘Sauron’, the Tesla brain trust quietly updated the Model X’s web page, giving us more information about the power configuration.

The long awaited all-wheel drive all-electric crossover will be available with 60 kWh, 85 kWh and 85 kWh Performance, exactly like the Model S saloon. Tesla chose to mention the Falcon Wing Doors as well, saying that they “fold up and out of the way allowing easy access to the third row seat, even from the narrowest of parking spaces“.

That may well be the case but what about underground garages with low clearance? There are some that are pretty low even directly above the parking spot. They also specify that the Model X is an automobile “above category“. Which is a very fancy way of saying that yes, this is a crossover and it’s highly multi-functional.

Still, if you hurry up and order your Model X, when you do receive it (early 2016 it would seem), you can thoroughly enjoy its autonomy and its performance, especially if you go for the top of the range 85 kWh Performance version which gives you 691 HP, and range of about 253 miles. The Model S goes 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds using this configuration so we expect the Model X to perform in a similar fashion.

The entry level 60 kWh Battery configuration should offer the same 380 HP as it does for the Model S, while the 85 kWh Battery version should give you just about the same power but with better autonomy.
