The Tesla Model S P85D is shaping up into somewhat of an internet sensation. Its acceleration is so fast, thanks to its 691 hp output and instant torque, that it’s very hard to match by most conventional cars. It’s already proved faster off the line than a Lambo Avendator and much faster full stop than a Ferrari 550.

In this video, it’s been pitted against a convertible BMW M4, which, as you would expect, is left a good few car lengths behind. It obviously catches up when the Tesla reaches its top speed, but we expected that – the M4 is only marginally faster (judging solely by watching the videos) than the regular P85.

You still can’t drive the Tesla this hard for too long, though, as it probably drains the battery even quicker than the RWD model at full bore, since it has two engines using up its juice.

Even so, for short bursts it’s undeniably pretty spectacular – check it out below!
